Q: Why do some teams have a bigger salary cap or overall value than mine? A: As the season progresses, the value of the players in each SuperCoach squad will change according to their real life performances. Some players will become more expensive, some will cost less. These changing amounts will be reflected in the overall value of each SuperCoach team. That's why it may seem that some teams have exceeded the salary cap.

Q: Can I use any of my 24 trades during the league finals if I have some remaining? Do I get more trades during the finals? A: You'll have 24 trades for the entire season, which can be used up to a maximum of 2 per round right through to Round 24 - including the league final series. No additional trades will be awarded specifically for league finals, or for any other reason.

Q: One of my squad has been injured or omitted from his team. Can I buy another player? A: Yes. You can make up to 2 trades each round, up to a maximum of 24 trades for the season. You'll need to replace the player you're trading with a player from the same position (defenders, forwards and so on) and you'll also need to be sure you can afford the new player. But don't worry - SuperCoach will let you know if your trade would break the rules.

Q: A player I chose as a forward has spent much of the actual footy season in the back line. Why hasn't his SuperCoach position changed? A: At the start of the SuperCoach season, players are allocated positions depending where they've played most of their games in the past. Modern players need to be very flexible, however, and will often take new roles as a season progresses. To keep the competition fair and equal for everyone, all positions will remain as assigned to each player at the start of the season.

Q: I selected a player who was listed as a midfielder or forward. I put him forward, but now need him in the midfield. Why can't I put him there? A: You can usually name a player only in the position that you selected them in. However, if, for example, you have a Forward on your team who was selectable as a Defender AND a Defender originally also available as a Forward, you may now SUBSTITUTE the two between positions, without costing you a trade. Please keep this in mind and select your team accordingly.

Editing your team

Like all coaches, you'll have to deal with injuries and loss of form in your 33-man squad.

While you can deal with some setbacks by skilful selection of your starting 22, you'll probably want to trade players to freshen-up your squad or snare a rising star before he becomes too expensive. There are many options available when editing your team - use the buttons and options as detailed to the right to make sure that your best choices are scoring points for you each week.

Dual-position player substitutions

If you players selected in two different positions, who were both available for selection in multiple, matching positions (e.g. you have a Defender who could initially be selected as a Defender and a Forward, and a Forward who could be selected as a Defender and a Forward), you're able to switch them around with a simple Substitution. A trade is not required. If you have eligible dual position players, they will highlight in BLUE when a Substitution button is clicked for a player (as will your eligible bench players).

"Zero" scoring players

Players who are actually named and in the starting 22 for any match AND score a 0 for any reason, will NOT be replaced by an emergency. Their 0 score will also have an effect on their value, being recorded as having played a game.

Team & player value

The price of players will vary according to how they've been playing, so the cut-price rookie having a stellar season will quickly become more expensive. On the other hand, a top player in a form slump will become cheaper the longer his form stays down. Should you buy him on the cheap trusting that his form will improve? It's up to you.

Substitutions

Click the button to substitute the desired OUT of your starting 22. Then, select a highlighted replacement from the two or three reserves in the matching position to complete your substitution. In 'player stats view', simply select the replacement substitute from the "substitute with" drop-down, next to the player you wish to substitute out.

Trades

You can make unlimited trades on your initial team entry. Your team will be locked in and entered at the start of the next upcoming round. You'll then be able to trade up to TWO players on the conclusion of each round. However, you'll only have a total of 24 trades for the entire Season. It's entirely your decision as to when and how you use them. Be sure to choose carefully, as all changes are FINAL and cannot be reversed. Player trades will not be transferable from one round to the next - you can only make a maximum of 2 TRADES per round, from the 24 that are available for the entire Season. Trading periods will generally be open for the entire week, up until the start of the next round's games.

Captain & Vice Captain

Your captain scores double points. You can also select a vice captain - your vice captain will score double points ONLY if your captain is a late withdrawal or doesn't play for any reason (eg. gets a score of 0). You can change your captain and vice captain as much and as often as you like prior to the start of each round.

Emergencies

Select up to THREE emergencies. Emergencies from your reserves list will replace up to three non-scoring players in your starting line-up in matching positions only. Where there are 2 emergencies selected in one position and only one of these is required, the lowest scoring emergency will be used. If no emergency is available for a 0-scoring player in a certain position, you'll not receive any points from that player. (Note: emergencies scoring 0 will not be considered the 'lowest-scoring' and will not be used).
